PlayClaw - FRAPS competition is here

FRAPS enjoy a state in game world which no other software competes with. Although after xfire introduced video capturing I never used FRAPS ever again, yet FRAPS does have a given advantage over xfire that it works with all games while xfire only works with supported games. So, where is the real competition to FRAPS? sadly there was none till.. Play Claw

PlayClaw is a total FRAPS clone, it does everything FRAPS did. It has FPS overlay, screenshot capture, video recording etc. So, finally you have an alternate. But which is better? so rather than giving a boring long review. Lets get to main gist:

PROS:

• Video capturing is less resource consuming than FRAPS, thus better performance during video capture
• Has extra overlays for Teamspeak and GPU displays
• Currently very active in development and thus new features are incoming in upcoming version
• Can directly record compressed videos.

CONS:

• Has no detailed benchmark recording option (planned for future)
• Doesnt work with Xfire overlay (and so doesnt FRAPS either)
• Its not free software like xfire (so isnt FRAPS either)

As you can see its pros outwiegh FRAPS, while its cons are common with FRAPS mostly. For me, xfire will remain my main free tool for dealing with FPS overlay and screenshot/video capture as they provide easier uploading to profile too. But for those who are addicted to using FRAPS, there is a better option in town now.. PlayClaw.
