Skinput is a new sensor technology attached to your muscle and then it can feel the pressure points of your hand being pressed, and map / transfer those controls to computer. This project was done by Chris Harrison of Carnegie Mellon university (whom you see in the video too) along with help of 2 people of Microsoft Research department. Watch the video below of it in action, and the guy even plays game such as tetris on it to show that how this tech can be refined to be used as an input device. Ofcourse I dont expect this to be directly converted into a consumer tech but refining it to more useful features in future would be cool.

Skinput, a technology that appropriates the human body for acoustic transmission, allowing the skin to be used as a finger input surface. In particular, we resolve the location of finger taps on the arm and hand by analyzing mechanical vibrations that propagate through the body. We collect these signals using a novel array of sensors worn as an armband. This approach provides an always-available, naturally-portable, and on-body interactive surface. To illustrate the potential of our approach, we developed several proof-of-concept applications on top of our sensing and classification system.

 More info @ Official site

Each year both both PES and Fifa fight for crown of who is the best Football game on console / PC and mobile. For past few years Fifa has been winning on consoles, while PES is better option for PC and mobile. But that is about to change...

 PES 2010

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 has little difference from last years version. Last year what I liked about the game was the addition of two type of controls, standard and one-touch. The same option is still available in 2010 ver. One-touch controls basically allows much easier time on keypad as u can do different actions using only ur OK key and D-pad. e.g. if you want to run/sprint then no need to press * , you can just double tap D-pad. For simple pass press OK, for through pass double tap OK, for lobbed shot or kick towards goal, hold OK for power and release when required. So, things like that give u more time to play the game and less waste of time fiddling with control keys spread around the mobile. So, that is plus point. But when it comes to graphical details.. they are bad! it looks really old and 2D. They have the environmental effects but the color palette is dull as well as blant players. so that is a turn off. You can play friendly, UEFA and Europa Cup in the game.

 Download PES 2010 @ Uploading (Multi-res: s40, s60v3)

 Fifa 2010

The sheer superior quality of make of this one starts right from the menu. The similar one touch controls are available in Fifa 2010, and using different presses or key hold time, you can manage different shots. But above that the colors are bright and pleasing and character details is really good as compared to PES 2010. The gameplay is fast, which becomes unforgiving sometime.. since you cannot be as fast as on a keyboard or controller.. so possession is lost easily. As compared to PES, i found it much easier to use a D-Pad in Fifa for diagonal runs. In PES i mostly had to use number keys to get player in a diagonal run but in Fifa using the D-Pad is easier which is again a plus. But once you become comfortable then the fast gameplay becomes more fun too. The game has friendly, leagues and even the Be a pro mode featured in desktop versions. You can select your fav team, get more detailed options about the environment etc. And if all those extra beef above PES wasnt enuf then game comes with sweet sweet multiplayer too. So, two players can play over bluetooth connection with easy hosting / joining option. Clearly if it were one football game you are going to be pick for mobile, my recommendation would be Fifa. But only if u have a poor phone with performance issues then PES is lighter game to play

 Download Fifa @ Uploading (Multi-res: s40, s60v3, s60v5)

Brave Arms is not the only 3D multiplayer game coming to facebook. Reign of steel (although not an FPS) is also a browser based game that will run on facebook and you get to play with tanks to kill your social friends. Game will be accessable to people in April 2010. They have a video to show off the quality of game till then:

This game aint no Twisted Metal but still Its good that a lil more action games are coming to facebook rather than just "Click to here to attemp a kill... CLICK... you win" type of games. BUT i do hope they bring good quality too. e.g. the above game looks something from 1995 maybe. There are in-browser games with much better gfx like Legion and unity plugin games. It was an ambitious project using the concept of 2D platform game makers and taking it to 3D to allow people to create their own games, block by block, and other players with atmosphir installed could play those games.

Later instead of using a standalone software, the developers shifted the technology to "Unity plugin". This allows clients not to download any extra software to play the games but play your created things within the browser. The platform is still in beta stage but looks intersting to use and make small platform games or worlds for you and your friends to play.

Checkout the beta @ Atmosphir beta
View video of atmosphir in action @ Blip.tv

Deus Ex roots came from System Shock a game which incorporated RPG and FPS action. The game was set in future and instead of magic or mana, implants and biotics were used to give powers to normal humans or androids (whatever u like to call them). The game story was particularly intriguing with real-world conspiracies, cliffhangers, and plot twists. The whoel world was richly simulated and loads of interactivity. These days game give u a false sense of freedom. You "think" that your actions have consequences .. but infact the change is subtle and nothign in storyline really varied that much.. but dues ex gameplay and story both offered real big changes. Both your actions and decission could be fatal. The game is still considered as a cult classic amongst PC game history as one of the best (if not THE best game) ever made.

What was wrong with Part 2?
Deus Ex 2: Invisible war (based on Unreal engine 2.0) on other hand a much simpler game. Most fans didnt like it as the original game was Dumbified for vast acceptance and thus lost the touch and depth of original game. There were no more different ammo types per weapon, the inventory was limitless and multiple routes were meaningless and you could mostly use a direct gun appraoch most of the time.

How to play on modern PCs
So, If you come from Halo-nation (As i like to call it) and have never experienced Deus Ex then you are missing out a true gem in PC gaming history. There are now high-resolution mods available for the original game too which makes games looks much better for modern PCs. check the difference:

So, here are some handy links for you to get started / or relive the Deus Ex phenomenon:

Buy Deus Ex at 50% off this week @ Steam

Get Deus Ex High-res mods @ HDTP and New Vision

Download Deus Ex full game with both mods included @ TinyPaste

 Watch original trailer @ YouTube

 Reviews @ Metacritic (90%)

One of the cool features of first game was dismemberment of enemies and killer close call kills. Now they want ideas from you guys and how you want to dismember or design a cool kill move for DS2. All you have to do is make video, or some picture or if you are too lazy then even describe the kill and dismemberment in text and submit it to them. If the kill is cool enough.. then it will be featured in the game, along with a chance of you being in the game (not clear about that, whether ur face model will be used as an enemy or anyother NPC). Although the contest is officially open for European and American continent but still you can submit ur ideas and view the gore others have shared :P

Details @ Dead Space Facebook page

Sports game are hard to describe. There is no storyline so u cannot say how game is, there are no dialogues, no actors or character stories, now twists and turns.. and everybody already knows what to expect from gameplay. The only thing 3 things that matters in these is how good the gfx are, AI good enough and was it fun playing it. And MLB 2K10 (Major League Baseball 2K10 by 2K Sports) may have its glitches and tehnical flaws yet it does par good on all the three fronts. It is a perfect game by no means, but when u only have only Baseball game to play with then its the best u got :P

Unlike Fifa series, MLB 2K10's PC version is superior to its console counter parts, and thus recommended even by IGN to be played as compared to X360 or PS3 version. So, if you are interested in baseball then its a safe bet to get this PC version.

 Download @ TinyPaste
Trailer @ IGN
Reviews @ MetaCritic (80%)

And no macho man event would be complete without Chuck Norris right? But now the awesomeness of chuck norris has been contained to fit on tiny screens. Youwill star as Chuck Norris in this action packed Nokia game and you will also have to eliminate your enemies while saving some prisoner of wars from their deadly grip in Cambodia. Your primary weapon is yourself and your martial art skills. If your fists and weapons fail then whole America is doomed (apparently America stopped training their armies when Chuck Norris was born).

Download for Nokia @ RapidSpread (176x220 and 240x320)
